Our goal at Idaho Golden Pups is to send you home with the highest quality, best-behaved, and healthiest little golden fluffball you have ever experienced!
Our neonatal puppies begin their little lives with something called Early Neurological Stimulation, which is a simple set of daily exercises that stimulate their nervous system to create a stronger cardiovascular system and a stronger immune system. They will also start learning how to handle changes and stimuli in a healthy productive way and will display less anxiety as adults.
Our puppies will also be exposed to daily Early Scent Introduction. Puppies first sniffs of grass, leaves, antlers, dirt, pine, chickens, rabbits, fresh herbs, fresh fruits, leather, and many other things while little will stimulate and strengthen the olfactory (senses sense of smell) and neural pathways to prepare them for future scent work if needed.
“I like a dog that startles and runs away from home whenever they hear fireworks or thunder.” Said no one. Ever. Idaho Golden pups are desensitized to these loud noises along with other common loud sounds so you have a chill Golden Retriever, not a jumpy pup full of anxiety.
Idaho Golden pups are put through rigorous behavioral exercises to learn rules, boundaries, and limitations (that famous dog trainer Cesar Milan is so fond of teaching people) so they are the best housemates and are ready to come live with your family. We strive to eliminate food aggression and will teach you how to handle puppy chewing/biting (which we will teach you how to handle).
Golden Retrievers are not good at being “outside dogs”. What do I mean by this? I don’t recommend that you purchase a well-trained Golden and then plan to leave it in your backyard or dog run 24/7. Goldens are loving affectionate dogs that bond closely with their families and need lots of love and attention. We prepare them to be inside dogs with good manners so they can be with you when you are home and enjoy your company and interact with you. They are extremely smart and LOVE to have a job to do- whether that is fetching a ball or frisbee, or playing hide and seek with you, or retrieving your game birds thru the wild country.
We prepare our pups for a life long love (or at least toleration) for grooming. Our puppis are groomed regularly to help desensitize them to their paws being touched, nails clipped/dremmeled, being in the water, and being blowdried. Goldens need regular grooming and Idaho Golden Pups hands over pups well prepared!
